We understand that seeking help when you have experienced sexual misconduct can seem frightening and overwhelming. You might not even be sure what you want to do. That’s okay. You are still encouraged to seek medical help as soon as possible to check for injuries and collect evidence in case you do decide to pursue prosecution. The Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center is one of the leading healthcare providers and educators for treating victims of sexual assault. The Center has specially trained nurses, called Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, available to make sure you get the right care and collect evidence for a sexual assault kit to help with any police investigations. You should dial or text 911 to contact police immediately if you experience or witness sexual misconduct and are in danger. Reporting the incident to the police does not mean you have to seek prosecution.

Under Indiana law, Purdue University's Fort Wayne Police Department officers possess full police powers, including the powers of arrest (IC-20-12-3.5) on all property owned or occupied by the university. They work closely with local law-enforcement agencies and solicit information on criminal activity of students at off-campus locations. Through an agreement with the City of Fort Wayne, Purdue Fort Wayne police are authorized as the secondary jurisdiction throughout the city.
